This is my friend Claire… Claire is 3, and has just been diagnosed with a large brain tumor which is inoperable in her brainstem and cerebellum. Claire is a little warrior. She has just begun chemotherapy treatments. One of the most Important, and emotionally difficult photo sessions I’ve ever done is this one. I’m sharing this story with the hopes that some of you will reach out and contribute to her cause.
The story: Claire’s mom Lisa and I became friends over the last couple years. Lisa is an amazing veterinarian in Portland, who took a special interest in our cat’s (Snowball) challenging case. She went above and beyond to help, making herself available to offer guidance 24/7. We bonded over this process, and I am eternally grateful for her. Fast forward to now…Lisa let me know a couple weeks ago about Claire’s tragic news, her 9 month prognosis, and their decision to do whatever it took to fight this monster. She asked me if I could do photos of Claire, and the family just before she started chemo so we could capture these moments in time before she started feeling bad and losing her hair. I’ve never felt so honored. We immediately set up the session and it felt good to be able to give her something in return for all she had done for us. Mostly, I wanted to show the world just how beautiful she is. I want the world to know Claire, her charisma, her charm, her perfection. Here she is throwing sand at the camera….and singing her A,B,Cs….
I’m asking my friends and people interested to considering donating, even just $5 to their cause. If everybody i knew did that, many small donations would equal a significant one and help offset the expensive medical costs.
I will be continuing to photograph Claire and document this story. She is a shining light. We love you Claire.
So much love to you Claire, Lisa, and Euan.
